However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
